About the Role
Do you have a passion for Python and its power to automate the world? OpenSource Science (OS-SCi) is looking for an experienced Freelance Python Teacher to lead our "Python for Automation" course. This role is perfect for someone who understands that Python is more than a language—it's the key to efficiency in modern system administration and DevOps.
At OS-SCi, our teachers are study coaches. You will guide students beyond basic syntax, helping them build practical scripts, solve real-world problems, and embrace the automation mindset that is essential in the world of Free and Open Source Technologies (FOSS).
What You'll Do
- Deliver the curriculum for our "Python for Automation" course, covering everything from fundamentals to advanced scripting for system tasks.
- Act as a study coach: Mentor students as they develop their problem-solving and coding skills.
- Facilitate a hands-on learning environment where students write and debug their own automation scripts.
- Assess student projects and provide actionable feedback to foster growth.
- Instill best practices for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code.
What We're Looking For
- Strong proficiency in Python, with a focus on scripting and automation in a Linux environment.
- Experience in teaching, corporate training, or mentoring others in programming concepts.
- A firm grasp of our student-centered, coaching-based educational philosophy.
- Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- A proactive and supportive attitude towards student learning.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, SaltStack, or Terraform.
