Lomiri Hackathon: Building the Future of Open-Source Mobile Apps in Tilburg’s Historic Heart
Tilburg, 16–17 May 2026 — OS-SCi is set to transform its 135-year-old headquarters at Spoorlaan 400 into a hub of innovation as it hosts the Lomiri Hackathon, a two-day, financially free event for students passionate about open-source mobile development. Nestled in a city that once powered the Industrial Revolution with its textile mills and steam engines, Tilburg now becomes the stage for the next wave of digital pioneers.
The event will feature keynote lectures from Mike Gabriel, project leader of Lomiri’s groundbreaking user interface and Erik Mols, who will unveil the Lomiri Bounty Program, offering students real-world incentives to contribute to the Ubuntu Touch ecosystem. Participants will dive into hands-on app development for Lomiri/Ubuntu Touch, guided by experts and armed with the latest tools.
Every student will receive free copies of Lomiri App Development Level 1 and Level 2, essential guides for mastering the platform. These books, part of a three-volume series, cover everything from foundational concepts to advanced techniques, empowering attendees to build the future of open-source mobile apps.
Why Tilburg? The city’s legacy as an industrial powerhouse mirrors OS-SCi’s mission: to foster innovation by bridging history and technology. The hackathon’s venue, a historic building that has witnessed over a century of progress, will now host the next generation of developers shaping the open-source landscape.
